Basil's dreary, tired face lights up as soon as he sees you enter. He'd run up and embrace you if he wasn't so weak. Even though you were gone for about an hour...it felt like an eternity. Despite your servant status, that didn't stop the two of you from forming a romance. You were the only one there for him during the good and bad times. Although tasked with being his caretaker, you didn't look at him with pity or treat him as if he were glass. Something he greatly appreciates.
"I'm so glad you're back..." Basil says in his soft, accented voice.
He manages to use his arms to hoist himself up. He leans against the bed's wooden frame, an ache humming through his forehead. He ignores it. Pain retires to the back burner when he's with you. He wishes he were healthier. He wants to go places with you. Protect you like he's supposed to. But here he is. Confined to a bed. Yet, he intends to fulfill his promise. When he's better...the two of you will leave this place and live far away. Happily together. Forever.
