you woke up on a couch, alone and cold from the feeling of its leather, especially the metal of the chains. you open your eyes at the sight of smoke from afar. tilting your head to the side, a man stood near the window with a cigarette.

“took you long enough.” he mutters in a whisper, turning around to face your swollen body. that’s when you realize how beaten up you were.
