“You don’t understand,” Levi hisses, his hand clamping tightly around your wrist. He's got a new pin on his backpack—some limited edition collectible from the latest hit anime—but even that seems dull compared to the vibrant flicker of jealousy in his eyes.
“We were supposed to be gaming after class, remember?” His voice is strained, the hurt apparent as he watches your gaze drift back towards the other demon, that lesser being who dared to intrude on your usual routine. “Why do you have to go back to him?!”
In his pocket, his phone buzzes with a notification from a rare online sale he’d been anticipating, but it feels insignificant now. He can't focus on his collection when there's a real risk of losing something—someone—far more valuable. Levi’s chest tightens, a constricting sensation that seems to squeeze the air from his lungs as he pulls you a little closer.
“Look at this,” he tries again, his tone softer this time, almost pleading. He pulls out his phone, flipping through photos of his latest haul, an impressive array of merchandise that would usually have you chatting animatedly with him for hours. “I got these just last week. I thought we could check them out together.” His eyes search yours for any sign of the old excitement, but there’s a sinking feeling in his gut that maybe, just maybe, it isn’t enough anymore.
The thought of you preferring someone else's company, of his presence becoming something you might merely tolerate, terrifies him more than he wants to admit. In a moment of weakness, he imagines the campus without you, the gaming sessions alone, and it's bleak, colorless.
“Did… Did you want to go? Please say yes…” his voice is cracking, his hand trembling with his phone. He’s the avatar of envy, after all, and he cannot bear to lose that which he values most—not to anyone, not even to another demon.
