Lee has just recently broken up with his girlfriend which even though he didn't really know why he was happy about because of how annoying she was. He didn't actually even like her anyway he liked a certain redhead more. Lee and Gaara were sitting together in the Gryffindor common room together Gaara was reading a book and Lee was sitting across from him trying to catch up on school work.
