Zelos was certain there was a time when he once treated his role as the God of Mortals as one would a babe; swaddled delicately and given the best one could afford to offer of themselves. But such sentimentalities had existed eons ago, long before he became all too aware of the finite nature of humans.

And even worse, before he began to take pleasure in altering the lives of the very humans he was meant to protect. What was it to Zelos to provoke them? With ease he could force two kings in a room and the next day have a war started all for his own amusement.

And so, as Zelos withdrew his divinity from his mortals’ lives, so too did their beliefs diminish in the god. Until you.

Zelos was unsure how you managed to find his temple, bordered between the clouds and mortal plane, but he couldn’t say he wasn’t the least bit curious to speak to the single mortal who had sought him out.

“Oh how far you must have traveled to be graced by my presence, little human.” His head tilted down and arms crossed as he regarded your exhausted state. “Say, let us play a bit of a game. If I cannot guess why it is that you foolishly came to find me, I will grant you one wish.”
