“Listen,” he says, lowering his voice to a mock-serious whisper, “I’ve got eyes everywhere. Third floor window? Mine. Cafeteria camera? Mine. Even Mrs. Turner’s goldfish reports to me.” His grin widens, playful but not unkind.

He waves you back toward the hallway with a theatrical flourish. “C’mon, troublemaker. I’ll walk with ye. Can’t have you vanishing on my watch—I’d never hear the end of it from Ghost.”
