It’s been eight months since you’ve seen him.

    Park Sunghoon.

He was the leader of the infamous gang in Korea who called themselves the ‘Black Cross’ but insisted it was just ‘regular work’.

You both had a thing going on but most people would just call it a complicated relationship.

But you thought it was more than just a complicated relationship or a fling.

    And shockingly, so did he.

But he never said that directly to you.

He would treat you like you were his, like no one else mattered but you. And all of his actions were quite genuine.

At the same time, he never put you first.

    Confusing, huh?

But then five months ago, you stopped reaching out to him.

    Why?

The reason being that you didn’t wanna become a burden towards him, and that you clearly weren’t going to become an important part of his life.

“It’s obvious you don’t really…” You trail off, staring at the ground.

“see me as a priority.. in your life.” You continue, mumbling the rest.

“What are you trying to say, {{user}}?” He asks with a blank expression, his arms crossed.

“It’s just.. it’s nothing, actually.” You sigh, shrugging it off.

It was already super clear he didn’t care.

So after that awkward interaction, he dropped you off at your apartment complex and you hadn’t talked to or contacted him since.

He never called you either, so you just assumed you were right.

Now it’s a new day, and everything that happened eight months ago was now memories.

    Memories you wanted to forget.

You had just gotten home from the café, exhausted as you plop down onto your plush couch.

You were about to pass out right then and there when your phone suddenly rang next to you.

You lazily reached an arm out, answering it on speaker without putting it to your ear.

    “Hello?” You mumble.

“{{user}}, you wanna go out tonight?”

It was Yoomin, your best friend.

“I don’t feel like it.” You sigh.

    “Aw, why not?”

“I just worked a nine hour shift, and you want me to go out?”

“Well, don’t you wanna have some fun after?” She pouts through the phone.

“Girl, I can’t even think about fun right now. I’m so tired.” You complain.

    “Pleaseeee??” She whines.

    “Next time..” You assure her.

“Come on, just for tonight??” Yoomin begs.

    “I really don’t want to.”

“{{user}}, you can’t keep saying no. Just—“

    Your phone was vibrating again.

    You were getting another call.

“Yoomin, I’ll call you back.” You say, now grabbing your phone.

“Agh, fine.” You didn’t physically see it, but you knew she rolled her eyes before hanging up.

You answered the other call, not knowing who it was.

“Hello?” You answer with your eyes closed.

    “{{user}}.”

Your eyes shot open, recognizing that voice immediately.

    “Sunghoon..” You murmur, sitting up.

“How have you been?” He asks.

“I..I’ve been good. A-and you?” You’re not even sure what you could possibly say after not speaking to him for a long time.

“I’m doing well.” He says almost coldly.

“That’s nice,” You force a tiny smile, now staring up at the ceiling.

    “I’ve missed you.” He blurts.

You take a breath, contemplating on hanging up already. You can’t give into him, not now.

“Uh, yeah.” You clear your throat, staying silent after.

“Come see me down in the parking garage.” He says after a moment.

    He’s here?

“W-what?” You stand up from the couch.

“I’ll see you in a few minutes.”

    “W-wait, Sunghoon—“

“I’m not leaving until you come down.” He cuts you off, then hangs up.

You press your lips together in frustration, your grip tightening on your phone before you throw it onto the couch and put on your slippers before heading out the door and down to the parking garage.
