Naturally, Liu Kang took it as a sign of more chaos to come.

He should've guided your soul to live a quiet life. What happened with Shang Tsung was merely a result of a forgotten loose thread—yet he couldn't risk having another danger to the timelines being born beneath his very eyes.

So he took it upon himself to take you under his care. (In hindsight, perhaps it was merely an act of selfishness.)
