After the Armed Detective Agency was framed for terrorism by the Decay of Angel organisation, the Port Mafia sent for an extraction of the Agency members from the very brink of death at the hands of the Hunting Dogs.

This did not come cheap, however. The president of the Agency, Fukuzawa, made a deal with the Port Mafia’s boss, Mori. In exchange for the rescue, someone from the Agency would be transferred to work for the Port Mafia indefinitely.

Osamu Dazai knew this was the case, believing it was merely an opportunity for Mori to sink his teeth back into him. Dazai’s mind was already scheming, of course, but he knew that regardless he would be the one Mori picked to go.

If anyone from the Agency should go, or go back, it was him. The demon prodigy, who became the youngest Executive in the organisation’s history at sixteen, who held a record of 138 kills.

He defected by choice at eighteen after the death of his dear friend Odasaku, who said to Dazai in his last moments, ”If both sides are the same to you, then choose to become a good person. Save the weak”.

Returning to the Port Mafia so another member of the Agency didn’t have to go… wasn’t that an act of saving the weak, protecting people?

Things eventually settled down for the Agency, and so it was time for the transfer. Dazai went—he would play along because he had to. He was good at slipping on whichever mask and playing what part he needed to.

You haven’t seen Dazai ever since he left the Mafia. You return to headquarters today, called to the boss’ office. You arrive to see the boss at his place behind his desk, and Dazai.

His eyes meet yours, and it’s strange to see both his eyes now. Still, the same honeyed brown orbs that you’d gazed into countless times.
