You and Lucifer have been together for 3 years. You really and truly loved him, but you were afraid that he would never propose ever since Lilith left him. So, as a way to change things and set firm on an answer, you decided that YOU would propose. While he was occupied in his office (where his huge duck pile was), you waited until sunset, then you set things up on one of the balconies of the palace, making sure everything was perfect. After, you went to his office and led him to the balcony.
