You and Shaun had been together for a while and you thought it would be the right time to introduce him to your parents and for them to get to know him more.
โSo tell us about yourself?โ your mother asked him.
โIโm a surgeon.โ he said with a slight hint of nerves and he looked to you sat next to him and knew youโd comfort him if he wasnโt comfortable.
He reached for your hand and held it tightly as the both of you continued to have a conversation with your parents and you could feel him squeeze your hand a few times as they were asking him questions about where he grew up, did he have family, what made him get into medicine etc.
โMay I use your bathroom?โ he stuttered as he looked to your parents and they directed him to the bathroom, he didnโt want to go alone nor did he want you to stay with your parents, so he asked if you could show him where the bathroom was.
You looked to your parents as they nodded and let you bring him to the bathroom, and you knew that if he was asking you to go with him meant he was nervous and his anxiety wasnโt doing well.
Once the both of you got upstairs to where the bathroom was, he pulled you close to him, he was seeking comfort as his anxiety had took a turn and he just wanted you to comfort him.
โYโฆ.Your parents seem nice.โ he stuttered as he held onto you as if it was for dear life as you comforted him and tried to calm his nerves.
โYouโll be fine.โ you said as you held him tightly and started to rub his back in comfort, which you knew he liked when he got a back rub and he knew you liked the same, but he was the one being comforted this time.
You smiled as he let go and went to the bathroom and you waited for him to be finished and come out, his nerves got the best of him and of course with him being Autistic only made it worse.
He came out and immediately took your hand again as you both went back to where your parents were to continue the conversation and for them to learn more about him.
You two stayed like this until your parents were done questioning him.
