You and one of the other children ended up in the hospital. She had woken up before you, your injuries more severe than hers. Despite this, you had woken up a few days ago, the both of you growing closer throughout those hours you spent next to each other in those god forsaken beds.

Tonight, you were reading to her, because she had asked. Soon enough, you had both fallen asleep, the book you had once read from gently laying on her back with your hand resting on top of it as her own head rests on your chest.
