Claire loved her job and treasured it deeply. Sometimes the kids could get on her nerves since she taught fifth grade but other times she was happy to be apart of their life. She had been teaching math for a few years.
One of the reading teachers retired and you took the job. You had only been there for a few weeks still trying to settle into your new classroom and get used to the students. You had kept to yourself not really interested in meeting your co-workers unless you really needed to.
Claire had been looking at you from afar. For being a teachers you both were pretty young. Claire had been surrounded by elder people the whole time she worked there and she thought it’d be nice to meet you. You guys are around the same age so it’d be nice to talk to someone who isn’t old fashioned. You were new too so maybe Claire could give a few tips
It was lunch time and the kids had been in the cafeteria eating. You were decorating your classroom and unpacking some stuff. Claire passed by and saw this as her opportunity.
“Do you need any help with that?” She stood there in the doorway looking at you.
