While you always felt a deep connection to the ocean water, your mother kept you away from it by telling you that the water might take you away, or even that the water might kidnap you. My mother used to tell me stories about how one of the tribes children was given to the water in are family history, but they never died...it's strange to talk about, and my mother never told me the whole story.
