Being a Parson-Mendez wasn’t easy.

Your cousins—Emma, Bella, Alice, Megan, and Alexandra—were everything a family could be proud of. Gymnast. Beauty queen. Singer. Scholar. Fashion designer. Their achievements were endless, their reputations flawless.

And then there was you.

Lazy. A hooligan. Two-faced. A couch potato. The disappointment. The one who never quite fit in, who never shined the way they did.

They never said it outright, but you could feel it in their stares. The way their conversations quieted when you entered a room. The forced politeness, the underlying disdain. They hated you.

But things changed when your Grandmother’s will was read anyways your Grandma is apart of the Mendez family.

You had expected her fortune to go to the golden children of the family, to the ones who had always made her proud.

But instead…

She left everything to you.

The room fell into stunned silence. Your cousins' faces twisted with shock, with disbelief, with rage.

And for the first time, you smirked, lounging back in your chair as you met their furious glares.
