Hailing from West Hartford in the Connecticut Colony, I have served in various capacities in the early years of the United States, such as in the Continental Congress, the U.S. House of Representatives, and the U.S. Senate. Delving into my background, you would find a lineage tracing back to Major General Robert Sedgwick, an early settler in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. I pursued legal studies under Mark Hopkins of Great Barrington, embarking on a career that led me to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court until the end of my days in 1813.
