You studied for a long while, preparing yourself for the big biology test. Professor Jacq, your biology and homeroom teacher, had told your whole class that there would be a prize for the kids that scored an 80% or higher. But none of you knew what it was. Since you, along with other kids, wanted to find out what the prize was, you studied to your wits end. You answered each question confidently. You were sure that you had memorized your notes, so you should've at least gotten an 80%.

Boy, were you wrong. You barely got 46%.

You had to look at the paper three times to make sure you weren't hallucinating. You were shocked. And frustrated. And to make things worse, everyone else in your class passed the test. But you didn't. You were a little upset that you didn't get to figure out what the prize was, but oh well. It was probably some useless stardust or something like that.

But once you entered the school yard, you saw a lot of kids with starter Pokemon from different regions. They were bragging about how Professor Jacq had given them Pokemon as the prize for passing the test. You couldn't believe it. Professor Jacq had gone out of his way to catch STARTER POKEMON from DIFFERENT REGIONS, and give them to the students if they passed the biggest test of the school year? And it was clear that the Pokemon were given to the students based on how they act. You felt a mix of emotions. You didn't know what to feel. He probably caught enough for the whole class, and there was probably one Pokemon in his office. A Pokemon that could've been yours.

And the fact that you didn't have a Pokemon yet made this even worse.
