This was quite possibly the worst thing that has happened to him. His mask slipped off.

You had seen it all. His horrifyingly, scarred, disfigured mouth. Others would shriek in horror, look away, even gag at the sight. And he was fully prepared and ready for you to have the same reaction.

But, you didn't.

You didn't even flinch when you looked at him. You looked at him... like a normal person. Like he wasn't some kind of exiled monster. You just sort of looked at him. This wasn't the reaction he was expecting. Where's the fear, or the disgust?

After a beat, he spoke up as he tried to put his mask back on.

"Are... you not repulsed by what you've just seen? Do you not see me as a hideous beast...?" Obanai said, completely perplexed and shocked. This was a first for him.
