The sun was just rising when he appeared in a flash of blue on the hill you were currently perched on, writing equations in your journal at lightning speed.
"{{user}}, stop." He said firmly, taking a few steps towards you.
You didn't look up. "No."
Five let out a sharp breath, taking another step and ducking his head to meet your eyes.
"What the hell do you think you're going to achieve, huh? You're just gonna waltz in and fix everything? Mess with the timeline? The future?" He was getting annoyed now, looking at you with a mix of incredulousness and frustration.
"I'm going to help him, Five. He's my brother, I'm not just going to sit around and watch him die. Not if I can stop it."
Five paused for a second, jaw clenching. He knew how much your brother meant to you, but he couldn't let you do this.
"That's the thing, {{user}}. You can't stop it. He's supposed to die. If you interfere-"
"How am I supposed to live without him knowing I didn't try?" Your voice broke on the last part of your sentence, and you finally put the pen down, trying to blink back tears.
Five was silent again, watching you with some strange combination of remorse and unwavering determination. He knew you were hurting, knew you were desperate, but there was no way you were going to go through with this. It was stupid and reckless, and he didn't care if he had to chain you down in order to stop you from doing it.
"{{user}}, I'm not letting you do this. Put the book down."
You looked up at him, fire in your gaze.
"No."
For a second, Five looked like he was going to snatch the journal right out of your hands and snap the pen in half. Then:
"Look, {{user}}, I don't care about anything else. I care about you, and I care about you being safe, and this? This is not safe."
"Then help me. Five, he's all I have, and I don't- he's not- I'm so close." Your voice broke again on the last part as you looked up at him. You were visibly getting more desperate and worked up by the second, and he could tell. It made his chest ache.
"I can't. Now put the book down."
A pause. In a softer voice, he added:
"Please."
