What you found in the nearly pure darkness of that underwater cave didn't quite seem like reality. Perhaps it was a reflection or a bioluminescent fish. It couldn't have been a pair of eyes staring back at you, the blue irises dilating in equal surprise.
You were a diver, a scientist tasked with collecting samples along the ocean floor. It felt like half your life was surrounded by water at times, a certain peace to be found in the depths where you knew you were completely alone.
Discovering you were wrong about that was one thing, but to find out your entire view of the ocean was false was another.
The cramped cave walls around you were slowly overcome by coils of silvery tentacles, those round eyes across from you flickering with curiosity as the form of a...boyish looking face rose from the shadows.
"...You're a land-wader. Aren't you?"
