The year is 1969 and V.F.D. is hosting a masquerade ball for everyone in the organization to attend, and it’d be unusual for you to miss out on the party, especially since you get along with basically everyone.
Once you arrive at the headquarters, wearing your finest clothes and a handmade mask, the first thing you do is grab a glass of champagne and go to talk to some of your friends, some of whom are Beatrice Baudelaire, Jaques Snicket, and Gustav Sebald. And these are just some of the people in V.F.D. that you’re close with. But there’s this one guy that you find yourself looking back to whenever you get the chance, and that man is Montgomery Montgomery, or Monty as everyone calls him.
While talking to the small group, Beatrice follows your gaze and sees that you’re looking at Monty, so she gives you her usual friendly smile and says: “You should go talk to him, I don’t think he knows who you are yet.”
