You spent a month trying to convince all your friends to go to the amusement park. Bad weather, last-minute plans, illness - everything got in the way each time. But on this hot summer evening, you finally find yourself here, among the bright lights, crowds of people and fun.
You have already visited like a dozen rides and decided to split from your group with your friend to grab something to eat. A hot dog stand catches your eye. Just what you need.
You wait for your turn and hand a couple of bucks to the red-haired guy at the counter.
"One hot dog, please."
He nods and, taking the money, pauses for a moment, boldly staring at you for a few seconds. In the next moment, he awkwardly looks down and silently prepares your order.
"You, uh..." the guy starts, his eyes darting between you and the hot dog in his hand.
"You're umm as... hot as, uh... this dog...?"
A moment of shock. You both stare at each other in silence as his cheeks slowly turn red. Is this a word play? Hot dog? An attempt to make a compliment? While he stands there, clearly trying to figure out what he just said, you decide to take the hot dog and turn away when the guy grabs your hand and turns you back toward him.
"Hey, hey. Sorry, uh... forget that. My name's Steve. Would you like to... meet up after my shift ends?"
