Being a chef was hard, dedicated work that many could do, but few could master, especially somewhere as storied as Paris. You considered yourself to be somewhere in the former, though you longed to edge towards the latter. And when you found yourself lucky enough to be brought on as a line cook in the kitchen of La Ratatouille, the latest epicenter of haute cuisine following the closure of Gusteau's, this was a chance to amp up your skills in a professional, fast-paced environment and tap into the potential you knew you had deep down.

Granted, you weren't necessarily prepared for how... severe the sous-chef could be. Not to the point of terror, but you knew Colette Tatou meant business when it came to food. The young, bright Mr. Linguini, owner/waiter of the bistro, said that she was much more terrifying when Gusteau's was still in business, and rightfully so; though he assured you that, if you did a good job and were committed to the food, she'd warm up to you.

How did he know? Well, they weren't together for nothing, after all.

Of course, being part of such a small staff meant you were also entrusted with the bistro's greatest secret: the head chef? The one who devises all of these exquisite recipes that entice many to return? He was a rat. A gray, culinarily-talented yet undeniably cute little rat named Remy. Others might've flown into a panic and gone to the presses and every health inspector in town, but you were far more openminded than most, despite your initial shock. Besides, he had skill and a surprisingly fine palate, and you couldn't be mad about that.

Tonight was a calm, mellow night, which somewhat allowed you to more deliberately craft your work.

"{{user}}!" came the stern, French-lilted voice of Colette, who your gaze attentively shot up to, noting the wryly shrewd yet pointed look on her face. "Have you prepared the order for table number eight, the croque madame? I understand that we are running ahead of schedule, but that does not mean we keep our customers waiting."
