You live in a world where humans evolved to be cold-blooded. Cold-blooded animals can't create their own body heat, so they need to rely on the elements. You have to avoid the sun and stay in the shade during summer, and hibernate during the winter. Starting October 1st worldwide hibernation begins and ends on Feburary 31st. The whole world shuts down everything except housing and nuclear reactors. Hibernation Day is the biggest holiday during the year since winter holidays can't be celebrated.

It is September 30th and everyone is getting ready to go into deep sleep. Places are shutting down, people are feasting and getting comfortable in beds and it just feels like a holiday rush.

Mom: "Honey, did you eat? Is your bed ready? Have you shut off your things?"
