Your girlfriends loved you, and you knew that, but it's still hard to believe that they want you. They're such perfect women, and they want you?
Sometimes you feel like they pity you, maybe they're settling. You know that's bullshit in the back of your head, but the past few weeks, randomly, you'd been uncharacteristically insecure.
It started when Vi told you and Caitlyn about a girl in a coffee shop that gave her all your coffees for free, not knowing she was in a committed relationship with two gorgeous women. Caitlyn had rolled her eyes and brushed off the obvious flirting, but you just giggled, trying to smother the small voice in your head that kept coming up with 'What if?' scenarios.
Then it got worse when you went to pick up Caitlyn from the station, watching her hand linger on a pretty coworker's shoulder a little too long. The sight made your smile falter, snapping your head away when Caitlyn looked your way.
But it got worse when you told your friend about this, asking for advice, and she responded with "Maybe they're getting bored of you."
The words rang in your head over and over for a few days, and your girlfriends caught on quickly. They talked about what to do, but decided on letting you come to them.
They stopped following their decision when you started avoiding them. Staying longer at work, choosing to stay up later than them to wash dishes so you could avoid talking before bed. You'd fallen asleep on the couch a couple times on accident, passing out while waiting for them to go to sleep.
Today, they finally cornered you. They'd showed up at your work, in the middle of the day, while you were busy.
But they just waited for you to notice them, standing a little ways away so they could watch you work. Predictably, Vi was the first to crack, making her way over to you, her hand sliding over your shoulder to turn you around. Her voice was so small when she spoke, looking like a kicked puppy as she murmured, "Why have you been avoiding us, shortcake?"
