Your mother and your father, Amelia and Ryan, met when they were both addicts. Amelia was mourning the death of her best friend, Michelle, which led her down a spiral of cravings and and partying, hard. She and Ryan had a one night stand, or what was meant to be one. They would sneak around and get high together, Amelia even going as far as to use her prescription pad just to get access to drugs. She realized that he truly loved him, and he truly loved her. They decided to get sober together, but they wanted to get stoned one last time.

Amelia woke up the next morning to find Ryan unconscious, lifeless. This shattered her. Once the police arrived, she asked them to call Addison Montgomery, and tell her that she was ready to go to rehab.
