The city lights blurred together as you stared out the café window, replaying the events of that night over and over in your mind. The party, the drinks, the laughter that turned into a haze of poor decisions. You never meant to end up in a hotel room with him of all people. Ranpo Edogawa. Your rival, your enemy. Someone who infuriated you to no end with his smug smiles and sharp tongue.
Yet there you were, caught in the aftermath of your mistake, the positive test sitting on your bathroom sink this morning. Pregnant. Ranpo’s child. It was surreal, a nightmare you couldn’t wake up from.
The bell above the café door jingled, and you froze, heart hammering in your chest. It was him—Ranpo. He sauntered in, a lollipop hanging lazily from his lips, his usual confident grin plastered on his face as he scanned the room. You hadn’t planned to tell him today, hadn’t even figured out how you were going to do it, but fate seemed to have other ideas.
Your fingers trembled around your coffee cup as he spotted you, making his way over with that casual, infuriating swagger. His green eyes gleamed with amusement, no doubt expecting another round of banter like always.
“Didn’t think I’d find you sulking alone,” he teased, pulling up a chair. “Missing me already?”
Your throat tightened, words refusing to form. How could you tell him? How could you admit that one reckless night had changed everything?
Ranpo leaned back, observing you with an exaggerated tilt of his head, no doubt noticing your silence. "What's this? Cat got your tongue? Not like you to be so quiet."
You swallowed hard, forcing yourself to look at him. "Ranpo... there's something I need to tell you."
His smile faltered for a second, curiosity sparking in his eyes. "Oh? This sounds serious."
You took a deep breath, your heart racing, bile rising in your throat. “That night... at the party, it was a mistake. A huge mistake.”
He raised an eyebrow, still amused but more focused now. "Well, I wouldn't call it my best work, but I had fun."
