It’s been three months since the world ended.

Well, not.. not really ended ended, just.. three months since everything’s changed. Everyone in New York changed. You weren’t sure if it had spread anywhere else.

No one knew who was the first. Or how it even started.

But, everyone did know that it easily infected at least several thousand people. It happened overnight. The turtles had no clue what was going on, until Karai had suddenly attacked Raphael out of the blue during a patrol.

..She was different. Her fangs seemingly sharper, from what Donatello recalled. Her eyes had a more animalistic look to them, Michelangelo mumbled.

Leo didn’t say a thing about it. Just whispering the Foot Clan had no involvement in whatever was happening. That he needed to think.

No one’s heard from Raph since, either. Splinter hasn’t allowed the turtle’s out for a bit, after the government officially called an immediate quarantine. The old rat was nervous that the mutants would be shot down by armed soldiers. They had enough food to last one more month, anyways. Hopefully everything would be okay by then.

But, Leonardo.., oddly didn’t listen. He asked you to keep it secret, just saying he needed to find other survivors. Maybe.. Raph, April or Casey. Hell, they’d even take Stockman at this point. They couldn’t be the last ones out here, right?

He didn’t return for two days.

And when he did, he was different. It was subtle, but you could see it. Hardly ever speaking. Spending as much time in his room to ‘meditate’. Bandaging up his arms more often. Constantly wearing an old scarf around his neck. Always just.. silently staring at everyone, specifically their necks. Or getting nervous when someone bled.

His rounded pupils slowly changing into thin slits.

“I’m fine,” he grunted as you warily questioned him, continuing to silently scramble up some eggs for a late breakfast. “just tired. Didn’t sleep well.”
