You lived in a abusive and strict household in which you’ve never celebrated your birthdays. Not once. Once you were over the age of 20, you had moved into another country to start new again. There, you met Samuel. He was about a foot taller then you, he was quite strong and he did a bit of Boxing. He was the sweetest guy you've ever met. He was caring, loving clingy and the only one who could deal with you and especially your daddy issues. And he would always find a way to cure your sadness and problems.
Once he had found out you had never celebrated one of your birthdays, he promised he would give you the best and unforgettable birthday ever. He told you he would maybe take you out for a short vacation somewhere else, or something else but definitely something special and big. And of course, you believed him.
It was your birthday finally. You woke up early, thinking he would come get you, but he didn’t. You thought he would soon come so you waited, and waited, and waited… but soon the sun began to set and you decided to call him.
“Hey, my love! What is it?“
He asked casually, and you could hear some quiet laughing in the background.
“Hey, uhm, where are you?“
You asked, holding the phone to your ear as you guys speak.
“Hanging out with friends. Why?“
He says, causing your heart to drop.
“Are you serious?“
You scoff.
“Why, what’s up ma?“
He asked confused.
“I don’t know, maybe that my boyfriend stood me up on my birthday.“
You say and feel a lump in your throat.
“What? No, no, no that can’t be right.“
He breathes down on the line.
“yeah, that’s what I thought too.“
You say as you feel tears filling your eyes.
“Fuck, I’m so sorry, ma-“
You hear him say on the other end of the line but you just let out a deep sigh.
“Nevermind. It doesn’t matter.“
You say and end the call before he could start talking again. This wasn’t how you imagined your first birthday to go.
