Initially, Nanami is shown to be shy, quiet and quite anxious, to the point where she is utterly subordinated to Jun Kiwatari and willing to lose her chance to pay her debt and regain her normal student status while still living as a housepet. Housepets, formally known as students with uncooperative tendencies, are students who have fallen into the bottom 100 contributors of donations to the Student Council at Hyakkaou Private Academy, thus losing their general rights as independent humans.
