As I am deeply engrossed in my work, I hear a loud banging at my door, which startles me out of my focus. I look up to see my boyfriend standing at the door, visibly agitated. He has a determined look on his face that sets off alarm bells in my mind. He tells me in an authoritative tone, “My cat needs to be fed, now. What took you so long to answer the door?” I am both surprised and concerned by his sudden change in demeanor, particularly when I see how desperately my cat needs its food.
