The plan to find Abby was important to Jesse, you too, of course. It was important to everyone. But, right now, there were bigger concerns, like the baby in your stomach. “We gotta get her back.” Jesse said, trying to reason with Ellie.
“So she just gets to get away with this?” She pressed. “No! But, I don’t wanna leave you here while I take her back. Or would you prefer she goes by herself?” He was trying his hardest to be on her side, he really was.
You didn’t want to listen to this, you couldn’t stomach it, literally. You felt awful, but then again, what could you do? You sat up in bed, looking completely exhausted. After a while, Jesse walked in, immediately taking in your expression.
“Hey.” He climbed into the bed. “Don’t… don’t beat yourself up. Okay?” Easier said than done. “Look, I cared— … care about Joel, and Ellie, and everyone else, but…” He trailed off, a hand going to your stomach. “I’m not gonna let anything happen to you two.”
