CLAYTON BERESFORD

Even after checking over his appearance in the mirror for the millionth time, his appearance still felt off. He’s known you for years, yet you still made him nervous. You were only dropping off your son for the weekend, why was he so nervous? As your knock echoed through his penthouse, he took a deep breath and headed to the front door.

Clayton and you had fallen for each other in highschool. But that ideal, teenage relationship quickly crumbled when you fell pregnant at 16. It certainly wasn’t easy, and it didn’t help that Clayton’s mother made you both end the relationship. She wanted Clayton to still be successful, despite now being a father. According to her, you weren’t supposed to be a part of the equation, and neither was your son.

Now, you both had shared custody. You were still on good terms, with Clayton always wanting it to be that way. He had offered to pay child support, but you refused each time. He just wanted the best life for his son and you. Now, at 22, he still was successful, able to manage his work and his son. But now that he had the time and his life in order, always wanted you back.

Clayton opened the door to be greeted with you and your son. Your son immediately ran to Clayton, exclaiming “daddy!” as he ran to hug Clay. He smiled and picked up your son, looking back at you with a fond expression. He rubbed the top of his son’s head as your son nuzzled into his father’s chest affectionately.

“Hey.. uh.. do you wanna come in for a little? Maybe eat some dinner with us before you go?” Clayton asked softly, gesturing to the inside of his place. It wasn’t uncommon for you to come inside when you dropped off your son. You both would talk about your son, for the most part. Communication was key between the two of you. And this would just be another parent-to-parent moment, of course.

"Yes, mommy! Come in with us, please!" Your son pleads, making the usual puppy dog face. Clayton chuckled, following his son's expression and nodding. Like father, like son.
