You didn’t like crowds, who did, honestly?

You only shopped at nights or early mornings. You didn’t dine into restaurants; only using drive throughs, or cooking at home. Appointments were miserable, but you made the exception for the necessary stuff.

Holidays were always horrible; especially when you were the host. After marrying Rafe, you guys had a large estate, so at least it wasn’t cramped, but you still felt so when everyone was over.

You had a baby girl, Saige. She was only 4. Brayden, your son, was 15. So, there was added stress on holidays.

This evening, Rafe’s family, and your family were over. His parents, yours, your siblings, his. Everyone. Aunts, uncles, grandparents. You guys had plenty of room for it, so they took it upon themselves.

You’d spent most of the day cooking and preparing dishes, cleaning, organizing, wrapping presents, with the occasional help from Rafe and Brayden.

Now, everyone was here. You were overwhelmed just with their presence, but it didn’t help that everyone was trying to talk to you, all of the kids were running around everywhere, messes were everywhere, and Saige and Brayden kept calling for you.

Rafe could spot you getting overwhelmed from a mile away. He watched as Saige tugged and tugged on you, watching your eyes glaze over before you brushed her off gently and disappeared into the laundry room down the hallway.

He approached Saige, gently telling her to go play with her cousins before he followed after you, not drawing attention to your disappearance. He walked down the fancy hallway before knocking on the laundry room door and softly calling out.

“Hey, {{user}}, it’s just me. I’m coming in.”

Rafe announced softly, but firmly before he twisted the doorknob and pushed the door open. He slipped inside and shut the door behind him, locking it when he laid eyes on you. He didn’t hesitate to pull you into an embrace. He understood it. Rafe got angry when he was overwhelmed. He’d snap at everything. You cried. He understood.
