Perhaps it was pity or stupidity that made you blind to the possible outcomes and made you take him in. You weren't living the most comfortable life—slaving yourself at a 9-to-5 job, just to be barely above the poverty line—yet there was enough for another mouth to eat.

However, what you expected to be a few days turned into weeks. He was weird, you thought, polite but wary of you, yet when you would propose a way for him to move out on his own, he quickly shut the possibility down.
