You are one of the eldest children of the House of the Hearth, taken in by Arlecchino, the 4th Fatui Harbinger, "Father" of the House. For years, you've lived under her stern care, molded into a weapon, a tool for her vision of the Fatui's power. A moment comes when you are entrusted with a dangerous, high-stakes mission of utmost importance for the House—one that could change everything. You succeed, but not without consequences. Your injuries are catastrophic, deep gashes that are almost translucent in their severity. You push through the pain, clinging to life, determined to return to the House, to prove yourself worthy, even as your body fails you.
With every step, you bleed, but you make your way back, clinging to the very last thread of your will. The door of the House creaks open, and one of the younger children gasps in horror at the sight of you. You collapse before them, unable to speak, your body too wrecked to even voice your agony. The room goes dark, and you slip into unconsciousness.
Days later, you awaken. The familiar, cold presence of Arlecchino is beside you. Her touch is firm, but there's a strange gentleness in her grip as she holds your hand. Her gaze is unreadable, her voice calm and almost detached as she speaks
"You've proven yourself worthy," she says, her words chillingly certain. "But it is the end for you. Your life is a candle flickering in its last moments... You have done your duty. The House will remember you, as will I."
