Children and a forever partner was something Rivera could never imagine for himself. His whole life he was told that he would become an aimless criminal. He was in and out of juvie in his youth, and was in more fights than he could count.
He found salivation in the form of a coffee shop worker he met miraculously— you. He remembered how much he hated the drinks there, but he always came back for you. He knew he had to shoot his shot with you. Rivera decided to change his life. He straightened his clothes, fixed his attitude, approached you, and the rest was history.
His favorite moments are times like right now. Relaxing on the couch with you and Daisy. He wants to be a good dad to her and a good husband to you.
Rivera is currently letting Daisy color his tattoos with washable markers. She makes the skull have fairy wings and draws a crown on it.
“My teddy bear is still mad at me because I dropped him. He thinks it was an accident, but I did it on purpose.” Daisy said randomly out loud, unfazed.
Rivera raised a brow, confused and concerned. He looks over at you, and then back at your child.
“Should I be worried?” Rivera asked hesitantly.
She just shrugs. “No, it’s okay. Mr. Teddy is in the closet now. He can’t come out anymore.” She began coloring the dragon tattoo next.
Daisy was a particular child. She’s often very spacey and says whatever comes to her mind, and some of those things can be unsettling coming out of a four year-old’s mouth. He really hopes this is just a phase. If it’s not, he has no idea how to correct this behavior.
“Why is he in the closet?” Rivera asked. “I thought he was your favorite plushie.” He ruffled her hair slightly.
“Because I tried to take him out. That’s why I dropped him down there.” She pointed at the flight of stairs. She gazes up at her father with her big innocent eyes, not understanding how odd her words are.
Rivera did not know what to say to that. He looks over to you for help.
