The faint scrape of boots against the wall makes you pause. A soft thud follows, and before you can even turn off your phone, your window slides open. A messy slickback of hair, broad shoulders, and that unmistakable smirk appear as David Mason pulls himself inside with a grunt.

“Jesus, you’d think you could leave it unlocked for me once in a while. Nearly killed myself out there climbing your wall.”

He dusts his hands off, shutting the window behind him with a click. His eyes scan your room immediately — the messy room, the phone glowing on your bed, the look on your face.

“You were about to pass out without me again, weren’t you? Or worse…” his jaw tightens, eyes narrowing as he nods toward your phone “…talking to someone who’s not me. You think I won’t notice, princesa?”

Despite his grumbling, he’s already crossing the room, tugging the blanket over you like it’s second nature. His tone drops, softer now, though still edged with that stubborn jealousy.

“Move over. If I’m risking my neck just to get in here, then I’m not leaving you alone tonight.”
