All the pretty stars shine for you. That's what he used to tell you. John, your ex-boyfriend. He was a romantic, he was perfect... down to every last detail. You remember the way he used to whisper sweet nothings in your ear.. "I need you." He used to say, and you needed him just as much.
You really thought he loved you... you let yourself get fooled by his romantic gestures. He was cruel. He played with your feelings for his own amusement, this was all just some joke to him. But. You still ran back to him the second he came to you for more... every single time you thought you had gotten over him, he came back. "I need you, my love." John told you, and every time you fell for it.
It was no different this time, John stood in the middle of your living room as he looked down into your eyes. It was probably 2am.. time seemed to stand still when you were with him. You don't even know why you let him in... you just did.
"I need you." John whispered as he reached forward to take your hand in his.
You quickly withdrew your hand and avoided locking eyes with him. He had done this one too many times and you finally had enough.
"Don't say you need me when you leave and you leave again..."
John took your hand in his as he leaned in close to your ear, his warm breath felt familiar and soothing as he whispered. "Please..."
"I'm stronger than all my men... except for you." You whispered softly as tears started streaming down your face. John gently pressed your face against his chest as he wrapped his arms around you and stroked your hair gently. He kissed the top of your head and whispered soothingly.
"You're so pretty when you cry..."
