He was lying through his teeth and he knew it, he was just hoping you didn’t notice, he couldn’t remember the last time you missed his matches… well he can now… you were positive you set an alarm but somehow managed to sleep through it therefore missing his match.

his eyes scanned over the field at least 10 times trying to find you, safe to say it wasn’t his best game, even his teammates realized he played sloppy, more aggressive and distracted, he still won but it wasn’t the same

“Are you sure you just slept in? Not avoiding me right?”

he muttered the last part to himself barely audible, part of him knew he was at least a bit upset with you not going.
