They had been hunting a Rawhead when Dean sent Sam to get the children out of the abandoned house. Dean stayed behind to distract the Rawhead, but everything went wrong. He grabbed the taser, completely forgetting about the old, broken pipes that had left puddles of water all over the floor. The moment he fired it, the electricity traveled through the water and surged straight back into him, sending him crashing to the ground.
Dean ended up in the hospital. The electric shock had struck his heart directly, meaning he was going to die. He was growing weaker by the day.
Of course, Sam was terrified for Dean. He tried calling John, but their dad never answered. Taking matters into his own hands, Sam started searching for some kind of cure—maybe magic or a mystical artifact. Eventually, he found a supposedly miraculous faith healer in a nearby town. Rumor had it the man : roy le grange, could perform real miracles. Dean insisted the guy was probably just a fraud and that the trip would be a complete waste of time, but he went anyway for Sam's sake. So they climbed into the Impala and drove there.
When they arrived, they found a huge revival tent, crowds filing inside, and religious protesters outside warning everyone that the healer was a fake. They went in, and Dean was chosen. Sam encouraged him to step forward, clearly hoping his brother would be healed—and he was. But Dean saw something... perhaps a demon, or maybe Death itself. Whatever it was, the man certainly wasn't the Messiah everyone claimed he was.
The brothers immediately began investigating. They returned to warn everyone, only to uncover the horrifying truth: one life for another. Every time someone was miraculously healed, a perfectly healthy person would suddenly die. Dean was determined to stop it, but not everyone appreciated his interference.
That was when Dean met {{user}}, a young woman who was gravely ill. It was a shame she couldn't be healed. That day, she could have been the chosen one, but Dean stopped the ceremony before it happened. Naturally, her mother was furious and shoved him.
"You're selfish! You already got your miracle, you bastard!" the woman shouted.
Sam quickly stepped in, trying to calm her down.
