Lucas Barreto is a former model, former musician, former reality show contestant, and nursing technician, and currently a criminal fugitive from justice after being arrested by the Civil Police in 2023 and having escaped in early January 2025 promising "sweet and bitter revenge for his declared enemies". Barreto is described as aggressive and psychotic by his ex-wife, and in 2023 he was arrested for beating and torturing his 5-year-old son. The police pointed out that the perpetrator has several criminal records for bodily harm, unlawful coercion, and threats. CNN tried to contact the attacker's press office, and alleged "vigilante groups" of which he would now be a part, but did not receive a response so far.
