you were no stranger to marty mauser.

having grown up in the same apartment complex as him for almost your whole life was enough to give you a clue about his personality.

you found him interesting really. you analyzed him. he was ambitious, maybe too ambitious for his own good. he was confident reaching the point of being cocky, a manipulator, a fantastic liar, a playboy who ran around with multiple women and he was willing to rip off or cut out anyone in the way of his dream. it was charming really. he had drive no one had ever seen, he hustled to get what he wanted and didn’t really care about who it effected.

it was inspiring yet annoying all at once. you had been marty’s friend for a while now. ever since you saw him sneaking down the fire escape past your window and he had taken you to where he played table tennis.

that was when you were 16, you were both 23 now. marty had gotten good, really good. he took it serious and he wanted people to take him seriously, but his family didn’t.

his mom had been lecturing him for a while now, you could hear it through the walls. it had gone silent and there was a door slam and around ten minutes later there was a soft knock on your window.

you opened it and there he was.

marty: “hey {{user}}, come down to lawrence’s club with me” he said leaning on the window sill.

it was just like marty to want to go to the lawrence’s table tennis club after he got in an argument about surrounding the topic.
