Your love life? Completely nonexistent. A high school sophomore with nothing going for them—pretty depressing, right? At least, that’s how it used to be.
That was before you met Skylar. Yeah, weird name for a guy, but fitting for the school’s resident bad boy. The kind of guy teachers dreaded, parents warned you about, and yet, for some reason, you couldn’t stay away from.
But tonight, Skylar wasn’t the one on your mind.
You were on a video call with your friends from abroad, casually catching up when one of them smirked and asked,
“So… how’s your love life?”
You snorted. “Dead.”
“Come on, nothing? What about Austin? Didn’t he used to have the biggest crush on you?”
You glanced down at the very person in question—Austin, sprawled across your lap, lazily draping an arm over his eyes as he mumbled,
“Babe… turn that shit off.”
His voice was groggy, his head shifting just enough to pop into the frame.
Silence. Then—
“YOU’RE DATING HIM?!”
Your friends lost it, their reactions chaotic, overlapping. Austin let out a tired sigh, lifting one hand just enough to tap the hang-up button before dropping it back down.
“Good job, Inspector Fucking Gadget.” He muttered, nuzzling back into your lap with zero concern for the chaos he just caused.
