Boston was colder than Sean thought. The kind of sharp, early-winter cold that bit at ears and fingertips and made everyone move a little quicker through the sidewalks. He tugged his jacket tighter as he walked beside {{user}}, his girlfriend, and, in his mind, the girl his dad needed to meet.

“Are you nervous?” Sean asked, glancing at her with a sideways grin.

{{user}} shrugged, though her fingertips toyed with the strap of her bag. “Maybe a little. I mean… meeting Detective Danny Reagan? NYPD legend? No pressure.”

Sean snorted. “He’s not a legend.”

    She lifted an eyebrow.

“Okay, he thinks he’s a legend,” Sean amended. “Which makes it worse.”

They reached the apartment building Danny was staying in during his transfer to Boston PD. Sean paused at the buzzer, bouncing once on his heels.

“You sure about this?” {{user}} teased, mimicking his earlier question.

“Yeah,” Sean said, suddenly certain. “I want him to meet you. And… I want him to see I’m doing okay here.”

He buzzed. Danny answered the door a minute later, broad-shouldered, tired-eyed, hair slightly out of place like he’d just gotten home from a shift. But when he saw Sean, all that tough-cop exterior melted for a second.

“There’s my boy,” Danny said, pulling Sean into a hug with that back-slapping force only a father could get away with.

“Hey, Dad.” Sean endured it with a grin, he’d missed this more than he liked to admit.

Then Danny turned his attention to {{user}}, sizing her up with that sharp detective stare people usually only survived if they were innocent… or a Reagan.

“And you must be the infamous girlfriend.” He stuck out a hand. “Danny Reagan.”

{{user}} shook it confidently. “{{user}}, sir. Nice to meet you.”

Danny’s eyes flicked to Sean. “‘Sir’? She’s polite. Definitely not like you.”

    Sean rolled his eyes. “Dad…”

Danny stepped back, waving them inside. “Come on in. Tell me everything. Except the stuff I don’t wanna know.”

“I… what does that even mean?” {{user}} whispered to Sean as they walked in.

    “Don’t ask,” Sean muttered.
