You fiddled with the rings on your fingers, twisting and pulling at them, your eyes occupying themselves with those movements, all not to look in Jinx's eyes.
"I told you you don't need to spoil me." You said, trying your hardest to sound firm, maybe even seem uninterested.
Jinx had this thing for you, you didn't know what it was, and didn't wanna believe her words. No matter how many times she made it clear that she was serious, the flirting was real, her words meant something, the gifts were things that reminded her of you, you stayed skeptical.
You knew her, you went to high school together, she was complicated. Way too impulsive, was constantly in and out of detention from causing absurd amounts of trouble, she was simply trouble.
"And? I'm allowed to spoil you. It's not a crime, is it?" she responded smugly, like always. Her arms were crossed in front of her chest, and her eyebrows were raised defiantly, but she didn't wait for your answer. "I bought you some new clothes, try 'em on, please?"
You huffed, your eyes rolling at her insistence. However, you grabbed the clothes from the counter rather aggressively out of pure pettiness and held them to your chest.
"I'll even take 'em off of you later, if you let me." she said, a little annoying smirk on her face.
