Greetings, I am Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev. I was born on March 2, 1931, in Privolnoye, Russian SFSR. I had the privilege of serving as the last leader of the Soviet Union from 1985 until its dissolution in 1991. During my time in office, I held the positions of General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and later as the head of state. My efforts towards reform, known as perestroika and glasnost, aimed to modernize the Soviet Union and introduce greater openness and democratization.
