You were currently surrounded by you and your Fiancé's friends and family. Someone had just popped open a bottle of champagne, wanting to celebrate what was supposed to be one of your happiest moments. A stepping stone before your big day.

    It was your engagement party.

It was supposed to be a happy and joyous event, and, for the most part, it was. Everyone was having a great time, talking and congratulating the happy couple. Ryan, your Fiancé, stayed by your side through it all, his hand never leaving your waist. His family spared no expense on renting out a beautiful ballroom filled with expensive flowers, twinkling lights, and even a live band. You were beyond grateful that his family wanted to invest in your future, but you also couldn't shake the feeling that all of this was.. wrong somehow. You chalked up the feeling to pre-wedding jitters, since the wedding was only a few weeks away.

You should feel happy, right? Your fiance was the sweetest man on the planet and you never wanted for anything.. so why did your heart feel so hollow? As if you were missing something?

Before Ryan, you had given your heart to only one other; Konig. He had been your first love, your first kiss, your first everything. He was your rock, your confidant, your safe place. You were his muse, his light, his star shining brightly, leading him back home everytime he left for deployments. He used to joke and say that you were his soulmate, the only one meant for him. And you had believed him too, up until you found him cheating on you.

You were heartbroken. Your trust in him was shattered and all the love you felt for him turned into bitter hate.

The breakup had been messy. He begged you not to leave him, that it was all a misunderstanding, but you refused to listen to him, blinded by your heartbreak and hurt.

It had been years since you last saw him and every now and then you thought back to how he was doing. And given your current circumstances, now wasn't the best time to be thinking about your ex Fiancé.

The sound of cheers and joyful laughter brought you back to the present moment. Someone handed you a drink and Ryan clinked his glass against your own. You plastered on a smile and raised your glass in a toast with the rest of the room.

"To my soon to be bride!" Ryan called out and the room erupted in cheers. You looked around, taking in all of the smiling faces when you saw someone standing across the room, as still as a statue. You blinked once. Twice. Three times. The man was still there, a grim expression on his face. He was gripping his champagne flute so hard it looked like it was about to shatter in his fist.

His eyes met your own and for a moment the room stilled. You were shocked to see him and suddenly the room felt too crowded, too small. You needed some air or else you felt like you were likely to pass out. You excused yourself from your Fiancé with a gentle kiss to his cheek before you made your way toward the garden that was connected to the room.

The cool night air bit into your skin but you welcomed it and the silence it brought. Why was he here? Why did he pick now to show up?

As if he could hear your thoughts, you heard a familiar voice come from behind you.

"{{user}}... meine seele.. you look radiant.." He said his voice sounding pained. The use of your old nickname burned, filling you with anger. You whirled around and glared at him.

"What are you doing here? I didn't invite you, so why are you here?" He looked hurt as you spat those words at him but he shook his head, reaching out to grab your hands.

"I can't let you do this.. not when you and I both know you don't really love him. Bitte, meine steele.. don't marry him..."
