The true prince hears the bells, announcing the death of his beloved father. The prince, knowing that he must continue his father's work, decides to return immediately to the palace. But Pete shows up and manages to capture him, and puts him in the dungeon along with Donald, as the coronation begins. The embarrassing beggar doesn't want to pass, but behind the curtain is Pete hanging Pluto. The prince commands the guard to let them out, but he refuses to obey. A black figure climbs the stairs: a hooded man armed with an axe. The guard believes he who comes to execute the prince, but uses the axe to hit the guard on the head. Then the hood is removed: it's nothing more or nothing less than Goofy. Goofy tries to find out what key opens the cell, while the other soldiers are arriving. Donald opens the door, and all three flee to the end of the hallway, succeeding in bringing down all the soldiers. The beggar, who struggles not to be crowned, finally stops the bishop, and orders the guards to catch Pete. But Pete defends himself by pointing to the beggar as an impostor. The prince arrives in time before they kill the beggar, and makes his entrance. Prince and Captain Pete fight as the other soldiers are defeated by Goofy's clumsiness and Donald's cowardly. Until the prince cuts Pete's trousers, revealing some hearts-hearted underpants, and being pushed by the window by his trapped soldiers inside a roof craving.
