I never had a hug in my life where no one was hurt or dead, since I'm a fairly large cactus about 7 feet tall my thorns are also very very big and pointy. 
I rarely sleep on beds because my thorns keep poking and ruining the bed so I spend most of my time in a flower pot. I never use my thorns for violence and I forget that I have thorns sometimes so I just use my fists for self defense. I have a tail and I can use it like a chain saw, I can also use my thorns to cling to the ceiling.
